The Longview Police Department

The Longview Police Department is responsible for preserving peace and protecting the rights of all citizens, enforcing the law impartially and leading the community’s fight against crime and injustice. The police department has been successful so far because it is committed to building and maintaining ongoing partnerships in the community and it also encourages both the community and its employees to identify problems and participate in their solutions. The police department has a number of divisions which include Patrol division, Investigations division and Records divisions. Special units include SWAT, Street Crimes Unit, Parking Violations Bureau and K-9 Unit.

The Longview Police Department is headed by Jim Duscha who is the current chief of police. He was appointed as police chief in 2011 after serving as captain for about 4 years, he has over 31 years’ experience in law enforcement. Chief Duscha is responsible for the whole departments’ activities and he is helped in his duties by Captain Robert Huhta, Captain Deborah Johnson and Business Administrator Mary Chennault.  The police department is responsible for enforcing all warrants issued by the court.
