Klickitat County is located along the central southern border of the state of Washington. At the 2010 census, the population was 20,318. The county seat and largest city is Goldendale. The county is named after the Klickitat tribe of the Yakama native Americans. Protected areas in the county include Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge and Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

The Sheriff’s Office patrols approximately 1,904 square miles of which 33 square miles is water. They office is responsible for protecting about 21,000 citizens. There are two detective sergeants, thirteen patrol deputies, one detective, two seasonal range/timer deputies, the sheriff, and a chief criminal deputy in the office.

County Jail Information
Visiting hours are Thursday and Saturday between 9:00 am and 11:00 am and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Inmates are not allowed visitors until they have been in Jail for a minimum of 72 hours. Each inmate is allowed 6 pre-selected visitors on their visitor list. Visitors must sign in, provide their name, birthdate and the identity of the inmate they are visiting. Check in for visiting starts ½ hour to the start of each session. Visits are 30 minutes. Visitors will be called in the order they checked in. Visitors are subject to search and video recording.
