Mason County is located in the western section of Washington state. At the 2010 census, the population was 60,699. The county seat and only incorporated city is Shelton. The county was formed in 1854 and is named in honor of Charles H. Mason the first secretary of the Washington Territory.

Early this AM, MCSO received a tip of a juvenile making general threats of harming people at an unnamed school. An investigation was started and a juvenile was taken into custody before any of our schools opened . The investigation is ongoing.
